"My works are formed by cultural and political issues. I work with painting, drawing and installation to express my feelings. In spite of the endless crisis and conflict around us, I always look to find the harmony and peace within every object that I come across. My art represents this journey".

EMMA GRÜN

Emma Grün (Johanna Emma Dittrich,*1982, Marburg) grew up in Berlin. Her multi-disziplinary work is influenced by the theatrical. Exploring the transformation of an actor into a role play, she is not only drawing harlekins, dancers and mythical creatures (Flügelfüßler), but also playing roles herself in her performances, thus exploring the borders between fragility and strength of body and soul, between inner world and surreal dream. Her sculptures and installations are dealing with the traces left behind by acting, often showing destruction, always wondering about masquerade and the identity behind. In her poetry she is dealing with questions about origin, home and escaping somewhere. Starting as an autodidact with some friends in a run-down temporary project space in Berlin Neukölln, her latest participations were in shows such as „Ngorongoro - Artist Week“ in Berlin, „Arcadia Unbound“ in Funkhaus Berlin and „liaision" at Gallery Franzkowiak; and on Positions Berlin Art Fair 2016.
