Art - a message of love

MOTHER LOVE is the third Art & Rights event of our series VOICE OF ART. In this Art & Children's Rights event we dedicate ourselves to the challenge of the theme transcendentally.

An international group of prestigious Artists have faced the task of channeling a universal force through current works, whose facet richness ranges from the smile of a child, the love of a mother, a father to their children, to a power that unites people across boundaries and cultural differences to one - MOTHER LOVE.

The exhibition presents itself in various forms and will tour through different environments. The works of the Artists unfold their force comprehensive and uniting. During the opening of the event, their works, lovingly and protectively, provide a framework for the paintings of children from the Arbat refugee camp near Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq. Furthermore the exhibition acts as an ambassador for the power of Art as a valuable element for a peaceful dialogue within public and political discourses. For the opening of the event and exhibition a catalogue will be released.

We invite Berlin schools to discuss the topics refugee, war, displacement and article 37 & 38 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in an additional educational programme with their students. We are providing a first introduction to these subjects, in the frame of our exhibition, and furthermore a support by teaching materials. Our aim is to promote an open discussion with young people to these important topics in order to prevent cut and dried opinions and racism.

According to the UNHCR Midyear Report 2016, around 64 million people were on the run worldwide. They fled war, political and religious persecution, Human Rights violations and humanitarian disasters. According to the Human Rights organisation Pro Asyl, 2016 at least 5,096 people died during the passage in the Mediterranean sea or are missing. And it must be feared that this terrible situation will continue in 2017.

The exhibition MOTHER LOVE will be presented at the end of the event as part of a church service for the dead at the EU borders.
